Phyllis Hammond

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Hammond grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts.

Education:

1962- Bachelor of Science in Education , Tufts University, Medford, MA
1954 – 1960- Attended School of Museum Fine Arts, Boston, MA
Hammond was the first American woman to work and study at the Kyoto City College of Fine Arts in Kyoto, Japan. Hammond returned to NY to establish a studio in Scarborough, until 1998.  Since1999 she has lived and worked in Springs, East Hampton, New York.
